Bad Rooster began in May of 2010 when two old friends/bandmates decided to call a few of their friends to start a finalist band for the CT Blues Society's 2010 "Blues Challenge." However, what started as a bluesy pick-up band turned into a local overnight sensation as soon as the band started playing out.

Bad Rooster was also named "Best Blues Band" in the Hartford Advocate's reader poll. The votes were tallied by write-in only in 2010, meaning many devout fans took the time to write-in their one-time votes. They've received air-play on WPKN and WCCC as well.

The band has already written almost an album's worth of originals, but Bad Rooster has a long list of cover songs that appeal to everyone, both young and old. They are not only talented, but extremely entertaining; they pull out all the stops when it comes to audience participation and leave every room with a memorable experience!

VOCALS - LEE-ANN LOVELACE: Lee-Ann Lovelace has been a professional singer and songwriter since late 2004. As soon as she joined her first band, she hit the ground running and has become known as one of the busiest and most in-demand singers/collaborators in Connecticut.

Lee-Ann sang with local bands Veloray, FBI (Funk Brokers, Inc), Plastica, The No Cheez Orchestra and the Rubber City Blues Band, almost all of which won local awards such as The Hartford Advocate's Grand Band Slam for listeners choice. Her other current band project is The Mighty Kind. She has opened for Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers, Orleans, and for Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famer Ronnie Spector.

GUITAR & VOCALS - PAUL KRAMARZ: Paul started playing guitar in high school in the late '70s, influenced by British rock guitarists, American acoustic singer/songwriters, and TV show themes. He played local clubs since 1980 in rock and top 40 bands. Paul's only domestic quality is he lives in a house. He can be a moody SOB, and should be avoided during breaks between sets (especially if you want to play his guitar!).

PIANO, ORGAN & VOCALS - NICK METROW: A veteran keyboard/vocalist of 35 years, Nick has toured all across the US and Puerto Rico. His musical homes have included NY, MA, TX, CA and CT playing everything from Top 40 to Progressive Rock, Blues and everything in between. He is back to his roots in Bad Rooster specializing in Honky-tonk Piano and "in your face" Hammond B3. One of three lead vocalists in the Rooster Coupe, his raspy "Cocker like" vocals cut deep. He attributes his 35 year cigarette habit as the main contributing factor. He quit smoking at one point. Bad idea! It resulted in having to sing lead for a Michael Jackson tribute. NOT!

BASS - JOE OLSON: Joe Olson is a bass player. He enjoys bass playing, and performances involving bass guitars. The strings on his instrument are very low and bass-like. Sometimes he'll use a pick to play these strings. Much of his performance can include a gentle swaying to and fro, and interesting eyebrow gestures. Joe's favorite hobbies include playing bass.

DRUMS - JIM PETANO: A drummer since age 10, Jim has been influenced by many different types of music. From Classic and Blues/ Southern rock, to New Wave and Punk/Alternative rock, Jim's musical taste has a very wide variety. Influences from the '70s to current music of the Allman Bros, Chicago, Steely Dan, The Police, Red Hot Chili Peppers, to name a few, all have a part in the beats you hear Jim play. Constantly studying interesting tempos and putting down his own energetic version to them leads to what you hear as the backbone in Bad Rooster.

A Connecticut native, Jim has also lived in Florida and Los Angeles, CA Before settling back in Connecticut with his wife Lisa. While in LA Jim had the privilege of working on the first music video "Stay the Night" as a special effects man for the band Chicago. Most recently Jim was the drummer for the Connecticut based Classic rock cover band, Freefall. You can often find him at an open mic night, having fun, meeting new people and pulling songs "out of the air".
